Crysis: Battlestar Galactica Mod Update

The Battlestar Galactica Fleet Commander 2 mod team have posted an update today, including screenshots, progress status, and a new website:

The leader Solstyce handed out a few information on the progress of the mod which you can read here:

Currently we are putting assets in game and rigging them for flight and with weapons. The current focus is to get our assets in game with the right flight dynamics and load outs. Our modelers and texturers have been working hard on getting the interiors of the ships made. We decided on making the interiors modular so we didn't have such a huge modeling task. we will construct the interior sets in the CryEngine2 rather than import one huge .cgf.

WIP Screenshots
The following are some screenshots of the tests they have been doing lately. They show off the Heavy Raider in action, WIP battlestar classes ships and an interior gang way.

Website Update
In addition to the news on the mod the team also updated their official web site which now features an own Crysis mod tab. Included is of course their awesome video teaser and quite a few information on the various vehicles the mod wants to feature in the end.

Crysis Wars: v1.2 Patch Update

A new update has been posted today over on MyCrysis about the v1.2 patch for Crysis Wars. Take a look:

Introduction
As the last dev blog we provided you was so well received, we’re giving you another update on the progress of the latest Crysis Wars update, due out in the not too distant future. Patch 1.1 was released on the 4th November, but even before it’s release the multiplayer team had begun work on Patch 1.2, the next patch for Crysis Wars. Now that 1.1 is out the team has fully moved across to focus on 1.2.

Not only did the first update feature the Linux dedicated server and the 64bit binaries, but the team also fixed an issue with CryNet which prevent people from being able to add a server to their favourites list for more than 1 gaming session.

Patch 1.2
In this patch you’re going to see plenty of game balancing issues fixed and several other issues getting resolved. The team has been hard at work testing all the updates that are included in the patch and things have been carefully tweaked to make sure you guys get given a great update that you’ll all be really happy with. You'll be seeing several stability issues solved with this update, as well as lots more game balancing issues and exploits fixed to be fairer for everyone.

We have been monitoring the forums continuously over the past few months and have been seeing all of the information you have been gathering for us. For example there are many threads in the Bugs and Technical Support Forum and Feedback and Suggestions forums that have really helped us focus on what the community wants to see.

Conclusion
The patch is still a little while away, but we’ll have another update for you in the near future, which will include a lot more details on the patch and information on when it will be released, and of course once again how you can get hold of the patch itself.

Call of Duty: World at War: FourZeroTwo - CoD:WaW hits today - must unlock Zombie Nazi Mode

FourZeroFour has a new blog post up today, which shows hes finally out of hiding after his last post! Take a look below:

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World At War hit today, so if you haven’t already picked it up, GO GET IT NOW! If I haven’t stressed it enough, Zombies are awesome. What’s even better than run of the mill everyday zombies? Nazi Zombies!

I’m going to spend most of today powering through the 4-player co-op single player in order to unlock the Nazi Zombie mode at the end. So who’s with me?

I wasn’t kidding when I said this is one of the most awesome things about World At War.

If you’re not familiar with what the hell I’m talking about - Nazi Zombies is a bonus mode after you beat the single player campaign. Essentially, it’s you (and 3 other co-op buddies) defending an abandoned house. Every window / door is boarded up at the start and there are weapons lining the walls around the house.

Each weapon costs money, once you own a weapon, you can go to it’s place on the wall to replenish ammo (for a cost). To get the money to buy the weapons / ammo, just kill zombies. Bonus points for headshots! Every once in a while a zombie will drop a power-up (Instant Kill, Double Points, etc.) and even one that allows you to explode all zombies on screen at once (save that till you need it) which lasts for a set duration.

The zombies will come in waves, so you have to work as a team to cover all the windows and doors, and most importantly work on rebuilding the barricades the zombies tear down in their attempt to get in. Once you hit wave 10 and over, fuck the windows, just find a secure location to defend from because your ass is going to be swarming with the nazi undead. It’s awesome.

Once you get $1000 though you can unlock more portions of the house which gives you access to even more weapons. Move a couch to access the upstairs, knock open a door to get to the basement, etc. Once you’re in the basement, you’ll have access to a random weapon box. Essentially everytime you open the box you’re entering a lottery for a random weapon. Could be a shitty pistol, or a bad ass flamethrower (which is only available in the box, not on the wall) as well as a few “special” weapons that you’ll definitely want to shoot for.

It’s all about working together to cover and secure the windows, going for headshots, reviving your teammates when they go down into last stand, and calling out zombie positions so you can defend a certain area of the house. The highest we got in-house before it went retail was about Lvl 20, so that’s what I’m aiming for.

So if you’re down for some co-op zombie action in World At War then hit me up, send me a message and I’ll try to add you to my friends list.

Battlefield 2: Battlegroup: Frontlines Development Ended

The Battlegroup: Frontlines team have released some bad news today. The news declares the end of development of their mod. Read below:

Update #71 – Closing the shop

11.16.2008 12:25 pm

Dear BattleGroup-Frontlines fans,

We are sorry to bring you these evil tidings today, but we have ended development on our Battlefield 2 modification for several reasons.
We thank everybody for their support in the last three years. This especially goes out to our former members, cooperating mod teams and of course to you, the fans. Without all your help, BGF would have never made it to its first release.

All the work we have done is fortunately not lost – our parent mod, Battlegroup 42 (for Battlefield 1942), already includes a lot of our content and will also feature many things you have seen here on the news page which didn’t make it into the last BGF build.

Sincerely,
Your BattleGroup-Frontlines Team

Again like our last news posting we had things for you to see and with this news post it will be no different. We continue to crank out content and polish our maps making them the best we can make them where eventually you our fans can enjoy them over time like our first release for BF42. Below are various screens over time showing as always development of our modification. The dev team also welcomes any questions you may have as to additional content you think we should consider based on what you've seen thus far. Suggestions are always welcome and remember if you're experienced and would like to lend us a hand please do drop me a line today.. So again I am very pleased to announce an addition to our ever expanding team a former US Marine with his tour of duty over in Iraq and coming to us from the professional gaming world as well, The XWW2 team formally welcomes: DerekB25 joins the XWW2 Mod teams 3D modeling group!

Aircraft are sometimes hard to model since they are complex with so many different systems on board.. we are pleased to have Derek on our team!

Battlefield 2: Allied Intent Xtended v2.0 Released

Today sees the release of the newest version of the Allied Intent Xtended mod. Take a loot at what version 2.0 is all about:

It's the day we've been eagerly awaiting for what seems like an eternity! Welcome to the AIX 2.0 release day! I'm sure you can't miss the big download buttons above so what are you waiting for?! 2.0 comes in 2 download choices, a patch for those of you who still have the AIX 1.0 Installer handy, and a full installer which is double the size.

The full installer comes as 2 files. One is the core mod package and the other is the core maps package. This makes file management and downloading easier for the majority of people rather than downloading one gargantuan file. You can install these two exe's in any order, but both are required if you choose this download route!

The patch version is half the size and requires a freshly installed, unmodified, completely untouched install of AIX 1.0 first! Please read the accompanying notes on the client download page for important information. The server files have been out for 24 hours and at last count there are 50 already online and ready to play!

This release was made possible because of many people behind the scenes and I'd like to thank first and foremost our amazingly dedicated test team who are an enthusiastic and groovy bunch of people who are a joy to hang out with. Their hard work is the reason you have such a solid release to play with! My fellow devs are an awesome bunch of people to work with, so kudos to them on some serious dedication and a seemingly never ending well of crazy talent and determination! We also humbly thank all the mirrors and hosting sites who have graciously donated their server space and bandwidth to get AIX out to you all!

We sincerely hope you enjoy AIX 2.0 as much as we had fun creating it for you. See you on the battlefield!
